LPW Conf 25

The Lagos Private Wealth Conference 2025 brought together an elite community of high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), visionary entrepreneurs, and business executives - individuals who represent the powerhouse of growth and development on the African continent. Held in the vibrant city of Lagos, the economic capital of Nigeria, this premier gathering served as a strategic platform to explore innovative strategies for structuring, preserving, growing, and successfully transitioning family wealth.

As the conference concluded, my greatest hope is that each participant left feeling more empowered to shape their business and financial legacy with confidence and clarity. I hope they came away with a renewed appreciation for structured and intentional wealth planning, not just for today but for generations to come. I hope that they also saw the immense value in collaboration; that by leaning into the expertise available at the conference and engaging with peers across industries, their vision for long-term prosperity becomes achievable.

Above all, the conference affirmed that Africa’s wealth story is still being written and that our entrepreneurs, executives and HNWIs are not just characters in the story, but its chief architects.

Objectives of the Conference

The conference was built around several core objectives aimed at equipping Nigeria’s wealth drivers with the tools and insights needed to navigate today’s financial complexities:

  1. Empowering Nigeria’s Growth Leaders - By convening HNWIs, business owners, and senior executives, the event sought to empower those at the forefront of economic progress with knowledge that transcends traditional wealth management.
  2. Expert Access and Strategic Guidance - Attendees uniquely received direct access to our expert panellists who are leading voices from global and local professional firms specializing in tax advisory, investment management, estate planning, family governance and asset structuring. These specialists provided invaluable perspectives on how to build robust frameworks for long-term wealth sustainability.
  3. Fostering Innovation and Financial Sophistication - The conference illuminated the latest trends in impact investing, alternative investments, digital assets, fintech and art management, all tailored to the specific needs and ambitions of a sophisticated audience of entrepreneurs and investors.
  4. Legacy Building & Intergenerational Wealth Transfer - With a strong emphasis on legacy, the program addressed the sensitive yet critical subject of succession planning, ensuring that family enterprises and wealth can thrive across generations.
  5. Positioning Africa as a Global Wealth Hub - Beyond individual success, the event aimed to elevate Nigeria’s and Africa’s position on the global wealth map, showcasing the continent as a frontier of opportunity, resilience, and innovation.

Highlights of the Conference

A major highlight was the keynote address by Steve Jennings, CEO of Rendeavour, who offered a bold and optimistic vision of Africa’s future. He emphasized the continent’s immense potential over the next 20 years as a global center for human capital, a dominant force in agricultural production, and an emerging leader in sophisticated service delivery. His message underlined the importance of long-term investment and innovation in unlocking Africa’s promise, with Lagos and other fast-growing cities playing a critical role. Complementing this global outlook was a compelling feature on Alaro City - a visionary urban development (by Rendeavour West Africa) within the Lekki Free Zone in Lagos, which was showcased as a future-proof commercial and residential real estate proposition. With its integrated infrastructure, strategic location, and sustainable urban planning, Alaro City is setting a new standard for investment-grade real estate in Nigeria.

Another impactful segment was the insightful presentation by the firm of Anjarwalla Collins & Haidermota (Dubai), which positioned the United Arab Emirates (UAE) as a leading international hub for wealth structuring. This presentation highlighted the jurisdiction’s business-friendly regulations, robust financial services ecosystem, and attractive residency and tax framework, making it an increasingly preferred destination for African HNWIs looking to structure and preserve wealth across borders.

The conference was further elevated by the expert contributions of our other sponsors and panellists, whose insights were both practical and strategic. Wyze Associates (Nigeria) and Edwin Coe LLP (U.K) provided invaluable knowledge on international tax planning and compliance. Aluko & Oyebode (Nigeria) and Charles Russell Speechlys (U.K) delivered deep expertise on wealth structuring and estate planning, tailored to the complexities of Nigerian families. IQ-EQ (Mauritius) offered guidance on corporate and fiduciary services, whilst CS Global Partners (U.K) explored global citizenship and residency programmes as tools for mobility and asset protection. Iwosan Wellness Centre (Nigeria) stressed the importance of health and wellness in sustaining the energy and focus needed for long-term wealth stewardship. W8 Advisory (U.K.) outlined effective models for family office management, family governance and succession planning, and Apeiron Group (Dubai) addressed emerging trends in insurance and protection planning to safeguard generational assets.

A particularly engaging segment of the conference was delivered by Ade Martins of Narita Learning Centre (Nigeria), an executive coach who spoke on the critical role of emotional intelligence in successful wealth creation and preservation. In his dynamic session, Ade emphasized that beyond financial acumen, the ability to understand, manage, and respond to emotions—both our own and others’—is essential in navigating complex family dynamics, making sound investment decisions, and leading with clarity under pressure. He shared practical tips, including the importance of self-awareness in decision-making and the need to cultivate empathy when managing intergenerational relationships, especially in family businesses. His message was clear: emotional intelligence isn’t just a soft skill—it’s a strategic advantage in sustaining wealth across generations.

The conference also featured dynamic panel discussions on global markets for investments and the emerging role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the investment management industry, offering attendees a forward-looking view of global financial trends. Expertly led by representatives from Wealth8 (UK), Leadway Asset Management (Nigeria) and First Bank (UK), the panel explored how Nigerian investors can access and optimize opportunities in international markets while navigating volatility and regulatory shifts. The discussion also delved into how AI is reshaping portfolio management, risk assessment, and client engagement - making investment strategies more data-driven, personalized, and efficient. The panellists provided practical insights on leveraging technology to enhance performance and stay competitive in a rapidly evolving global landscape.

The conference concluded on a high yet poignant note with a deeply personal panel titled “Preparing the Next Generation as Custodians of Family Wealth.” This session featured representatives from five Nigerian families who are actively engaged in transitioning both family wealth and family businesses to their next generation. Their stories were candid and often emotional, highlighting not just the technical and legal complexities of succession planning, but also the human challenges of trust, communication, and preparing heirs for leadership. The panel demonstrated that behind every strategy and structure are real people, real relationships, and real legacies - a powerful reminder that effective wealth transfer is as much about values and vision as it is about numbers and structures.

This final session encapsulated the spirit of the Lagos Private Wealth Conference 2025: a gathering not only about wealth, but about wisdom - about building a future where African prosperity is intentional, inclusive, and enduring.
